Plastics industry

Plastics, or various types of polymers, are currently used in many branches of industry, mainly due to the promising properties of these materials. Some of them exhibit high mechanical, thermal, and chemical resistance, which has led to the replacement of traditionally metal components with products made from different types of plastics. An example of this can be gears in low-torque transmissions.

Plastic products after forming are characterized by the occurrence of sharp edges and burrs, so in order to give them the final shape and proper surface quality, it is recommended to carry out an appropriately selected vibro-abrasive processing. Plastic elements are usually subjected to deburring in ceramic media, additionally, this process can in some cases be supplemented with subsequent grinding and polishing stages using vibratory or centrifugal polishers.
