Plastic chips prepare the surface of jewellery workpieces to the last stage and their role is to smoothen the surface as much as possible before it gets the mirror shine in the last stage. The colour of the chips indicate their abrassivness as so the black chips are the most abrasive and are used for rough grinding, next there are green chips for grinding, the blue ones are for fine grinding and the white chips are the most delicate and perform smoothing process. Pink chips are used without additional compound and they are used for fine grinding and smoothing of very delicate fileerge workpieces that just need gentle touch.
